N24EVER - Where will you be?
Where will you spend eternity? The answer to this question is not about what school or church you attend. It is not about trying to be religious. It is all about having a relationship. You and I were created for this purpose—to have a relationship with God. The first book of the Bible speaks of this relationship that God established with mankind and how they walked together in the garden that God had made for them. Boundaries, or rules, were put into place. The man and woman broke the rules. As soon as the rules were broken, so was their relationship with God. The term that the Bible uses for this breaking of the rules is sin. Here are some Scriptures that speak of sin and how it has affected mankind’s relationship with God.
Isaiah 59:2 says “But your iniquities have separated you from God, your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear.” Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Romans 6:23 says “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” You see, our sins not only separate us from God, but are also what brings on death-spiritual and physical. But God made a way for us to be restored in our relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Let’s see what else the Bible says about this relationship. In the book of John, chapter 3 and verse 16, it says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” In Romans 5:8, it says “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In John 14:6, Jesus, Himself, says “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” In other words, He is the ONLY way. In I John 1:9, it says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Ephesians 2:8,9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”
If after reading this, you feel something tugging at you on the inside, that is God's love, reaching out to you through conviction in your heart. Don't resist what He is doing inside of you. Go ahead and take the next step and say a prayer that can transform you from the inside out. Maybe you have never prayed before, and you need a little help. Just use some of the Scriptures and words used above. You really have to pray it and mean it,
You can actually pray these words:
God, I am starting to understand a little more, and that you created me to have a relationship with you. But I have broken your rules and guidelines for my life. I confess to you that I have not lived for you and have made a mess of things. I want to have and restore my relationship with you. It is truly amazing that while I have lived this way, you still loved me and gave your Son for me - and that He is the only way that I can come to you. As I place my faith and belief in you, I thank you for your grace and ask you to forgive me and cleanse me from all of the junk that I have done. Change me from the inside out, God. Please make me new. Thank you so very much, in Jesus' name, AMEN
Now as long as you really meant that prayer, you can be confident that your relationship with God has been restored. Jesus told his followers to receive the Holy Spirit and they would receive power to be able to live for Him and to do his work. You can read about it the Bible in the book of Acts chapter 1 and 2, and you can read about the spiritual gifts that come with receiving the Holy Spirit in the book of I Corinthians, chapter 12,13, and 14. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit to give you His power and to be able to use the gifts.
